Two Slope Collapses in Lincang, Yunnan Leave Four Missing

On August 23, two slope collapses occurred in Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, leaving four people missing. The Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geological disaster defense response for Yunnan at 2 p.m. on the 23rd and dispatched a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.

The ministry has instructed the Yunnan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately send an expert working group to the scene to assist local authorities with technical support during search and rescue efforts, while also urging lessons to be learned from the incident to strengthen geological disaster inspections, monitoring, early warning, and preventive measures under similar conditions. Additionally, the China Geological Survey and the ministry's geological disaster technical guidance center have been tasked with enhancing expert coordination, organizational efforts, and joint consultations to provide comprehensive technical support.

Rescue operations are currently underway as authorities race to locate the four missing individuals.
