Fuel Price Hike Alert: Major Rise Expected Before August 28 Window

Deep News
Yesterday

With six days remaining until the 17th fuel price adjustment window of 2026 opens at midnight on August 28, the current pricing cycle has already completed half of its statistical period, covering five working days. Since the evaluation cycle began on August 17, the upward adjustment expectation has consistently strengthened, and prices have now entered a significant increase range, making it highly likely that this will mark the 11th fuel price rise of the year.

According to current calculations from relevant agencies, gasoline and diesel prices are projected to increase by 360 yuan per tonne and 345 yuan per tonne, respectively. When converted to retail fuel prices, 92-octane gasoline is expected to rise by 0.29 yuan per liter, 95-octane gasoline by 0.31 yuan per liter, and 0-diesel by 0.30 yuan per liter.

Market forecasts suggest that after the next statistical working day, the increase could exceed 400 yuan per tonne, potentially pushing the per-liter rise for 92-octane gasoline directly past the 0.3 yuan threshold. Until the adjustment takes effect on August 28, domestic fuel prices will remain unchanged from current levels. As of now, the national average reference prices stand at 7.77 yuan per liter for 92-octane gasoline, 8.29 yuan per liter for 95-octane gasoline, and 7.42 yuan per liter for 0-diesel.
