Guangdong Province has released a draft plan for public consultation outlining its development strategy for the information and communications industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
The proposed plan encourages fundamental telecommunications enterprises and other stakeholders to actively participate in the province's key research and development initiatives. It aims to leverage strategic scientific forces, such as the Pengcheng National Laboratory, and leading industry enterprises to help establish a comprehensive innovation ecosystem across the entire process within Guangdong's information and communications sector.
A key focus is accelerating technological breakthroughs in critical and frontier fields, including 6G, optical communication, satellite communication, quantum communication, and intelligent agent communication. The plan also emphasizes strengthening research into new types of network architectures, such as integrated space-air-ground networks and integrated communication-sensing-computing systems.
Developing the 6G sector is identified as a priority new growth area. Efforts will be intensified to advance the research, development, and industrialization of core components like next-generation digital baseband chips, radio frequency front-end chips, and 6G modules, as well as new-generation network communication equipment.
Furthermore, the plan calls for research into application technologies that integrate quantum encryption with information communication networks and quantum computing with classical computing. The goal is to achieve breakthroughs in key technologies encompassing quantum computing, quantum materials, quantum precision measurement, quantum security, and critical core equipment.
