Tenet Healthcare's stock fell sharply by 5.04% during intraday trading on Thursday, as the market reacted to the company's latest quarterly earnings report and forward-looking statements.

The hospital operator reported first-quarter net operating revenue of $5.37 billion, representing a 2.8% year-over-year increase but slightly missing the analyst consensus estimate of $5.40 billion. While adjusted earnings per share of $4.82 beat expectations of $4.18, investors appeared focused on the top-line shortfall.

Furthermore, the company's full-year 2026 guidance provided additional pressure. Tenet expects net operating revenues between $21.5 billion and $22.3 billion, with the midpoint slightly below the FactSet consensus of $22.017 billion. The adjusted EPS guidance range of $16.38 to $18.68 also has a midpoint that falls short of the $17.2 analyst estimate.
