The Ministry of Education has recently announced the first batch of national primary and secondary science education pilot zones and schools, identifying 135 pilot zones and 1,246 pilot schools nationwide. Guo Shoujing Primary School, Ningjin High School, and Dongguan Yifu Primary School in Xingtai city have been selected as national science education pilot schools.
The selection aims to advance and upgrade science and technology education in primary and secondary schools, exploring replicable pathways for cultivating talent in science and innovation. Guo Shoujing Primary School, leveraging its "Shoujing Culture," has developed 21 distinctive school-based courses, including "Creative Programming," "Robotics," and "Artificial Intelligence." The school features specialized spaces such as an AI classroom and a maker classroom and is recognized as a national model unit for youth AI activities.
Ningjin High School has established 19 inclusive laboratories across 6 categories, including VR innovation, intelligent robotics, and digital astronomy and geography. The school has active clubs for robot makers, model airplanes, and 3D printing, supported by solid school-enterprise collaborative practice bases. Dongguan Yifu Primary School independently offers over 10 science and technology club courses, including general AI knowledge, simple science experiments, and children's programming. The school consistently sparks student interest in inquiry through activities like science festivals and science popularization caravans.
In recent years, the city has prioritized cultivating scientific literacy and innovative spirit in primary and secondary students as a core educational focus. It systematically integrates resources both inside and outside schools to build a science education ecosystem. Deputy Director of the Xingtai Education Bureau, Shi Zhanpo, stated that this opportunity will be used to deepen exploration in curriculum development, teacher training, and museum-school cooperation. The pilot schools will serve as models to radiate influence, enabling more children to fall in love with science and learn to create under the "double reduction" policy, thereby boosting the momentum of science education in Xingtai.
