They provided on-site technical guidance for the "Three Summers" production season, aiming to strengthen the final stages of wheat management and autumn crop field care, thereby laying a solid foundation for a successful summer harvest and a productive autumn yield.

At wheat cultivation bases in Wang Village of Laodingshan Subdistrict in Luzhou District, Gangshang Village in Yuzhe Town of Tunliu District, and Xiaoxinzhuang Village in Baodian Town of Changzi County, the technicians assessed wheat growth, grain plumpness, and other factors. They combined these observations with recent weather patterns to comprehensively evaluate the potential impact of meteorological conditions on wheat maturation and harvesting.

Currently, wheat across the city is in the mid-grain filling stage, with approximately half a month remaining before large-scale harvesting begins. Based on crop conditions, soil moisture, and climate characteristics, the technicians offered tailored management solutions on-site. These included ensuring proper field drainage after rain by clearing ditches promptly to prevent waterlogging, effectively mitigating the risk of lodging in the later stages. They also emphasized monitoring crop development closely to identify the optimal window at the end of the waxy ripening stage for timely harvesting, ensuring every grain is collected.

Simultaneously, efforts to guard against disaster risks were highlighted, urging close attention to weather warnings. Preparatory plans for potential continuous rainy periods were advised, alongside readiness for emergency harvesting to effectively prevent issues like pre-harvest sprouting and mold, thereby maximizing protection for both wheat yield and quality.

In a corn demonstration field operated by the Beigang Lianyou Agricultural Machinery Cooperative in Tunliu District, technicians provided specialized guidance on seedling-stage management. This field utilizes an efficient "one-free, five-increase" wide-narrow row cultivation technique, resulting in uniform emergence and balanced growth. The corn is generally at the 5-6 leaf stage, with chemical weed control operations currently concentrated. Technicians standardized plant protection practices on-site, advising farmers to avoid pesticide application during midday high temperatures. They stressed strict control over application timing and ambient temperature to prevent heat-induced chemical damage, thereby supporting robust corn seedling growth.

This year, the city has innovated by piloting a new double-cropping model of interplanting corn with wheat. Compared to traditional post-wheat sowing, this model allows the corn planting date to be advanced by approximately 20 days. It makes fuller use of summer and autumn light and heat resources, extends the corn growing period, and strengthens the foundation for high and stable autumn grain yields. Technicians specifically reminded farmers to exercise precision and care during wheat mechanical harvesting to avoid machinery compaction and damage to the interplanted seedlings, ensuring the healthy growth of the intercropped corn.

It is understood that upon successful piloting, this model will further refine the city's double-cropping cultivation technical system. This enhancement is expected to improve multiple cropping efficiency and overall grain production capacity, holding significant importance for scaling up grain production and stabilizing total grain output across the city.
