Senior Investment Banker at Guotai Haitong Resigns Following Prior Reports of Unavailability

Information regarding Zhu Dongchen has been removed from the securities industry practitioner registry as of July 16th. Zhu previously served as the Co-General Manager of the Investment Banking Department at Guotai Haitong Securities Co., Ltd. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Zhejiang University, class of 1994. Following his graduation, he initially worked at the predecessor organization of the Zhejiang Provincial Financial Office, the Provincial Listing Office. In 2004, he joined the Zhejiang branch of GF Securities to establish an investment banking team. After 16 years at GF Securities, he became a key figure in the Zhejiang investment banking headquarters. In April 2021, he moved to Guotai Junan Securities, which later merged to form Guotai Haitong Securities Co., Ltd. Within the industry, he was known as the "Zhejiang Investment Banking King" for leading or participating in the IPO sponsorships of several Zhejiang-based companies, including Dali Technology, First PV, and Hailiang Co., Ltd.

In November 2025, a report from Caixin indicated that Zhu Dongchen, a member of the Investment Banking Business Committee and Co-General Manager of the Investment Banking Department at Guotai Haitong Securities Co., Ltd., who held the title "Zhejiang Investment Banking King," had recently been unreachable. His phone had been going to voicemail for the preceding week, and sources suggested he had been taken away from an airport, with the incident having occurred nearly a month prior.
