Wang Chengzhu, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Huaqiang Electronic World Management Co., Ltd., explains that the area now hosts over 1,000 small and medium-sized design studios. Designers are rooted in office buildings, frequently "soaking" in the market to observe consumer trends. After getting a design blueprint, they can source all components within a few minutes' walk, complete prototyping and testing the same day, and directly connect with nearby factories for mass production upon passing. "The entire innovation loop is completed within a few hundred square kilometers in the surrounding area."

Long-tail spot procurement is the irreplaceable core competitiveness of this ecosystem. Wang Xiaohong, President of Shenzhen Huaqiang Industry Co., Ltd., notes that micro-startups in R&D and prototyping can get even 10 chips on the same day; mid-to-large enterprises facing sudden production line shortages don't have to wait two to three months for original manufacturer scheduling — they can resolve urgent needs on the same day here.

The solid industrial soil not only supports the rapid iteration of consumer electronics but also nurtures the clustered breakthrough of future industries. On the global competitive track of humanoid robots, Shenzhen has seen a concentration of complete-machine enterprises with distinct technological features, forming a complete industrial phalanx from core components to complete-machine R&D, from technological breakthroughs to scenario deployment. In 2025, a video of a robot performing a classic dance from the movie "Kung Fu Hustle" went viral online. This robot is the fruit of Zhao Tongyang's third entrepreneurial venture as founder and chairman of Zhongqing Robot. "Shenzhen has a complete hardware supply chain; key components like servo motors, sensors, and controllers needed by enterprises can be quickly matched locally, greatly reducing R&D costs," Zhao says.

Behind the leading complete-machine enterprises lies the strong support of a localized core-component supply system. Micro-drive systems from Zhaowei Electromechanical, servo systems from Inovance Technology, computing chips from Roboraga, 3D vision solutions from Orbbec, LiDAR from RoboSense — a number of Shenzhen companies have filled industry technological gaps, building a solid foundation for independent industrial development. The clustering effect continues to amplify, with a gradient configuration of startup spaces — "a desk, an office, a floor of office building" — providing high-quality, low-cost spaces for entrepreneurship and innovation. The "Embodied Intelligence Port" covering 23 square kilometers in Qianhai and Bao'an is rapidly rising, gathering over 130 upstream and downstream embodied intelligence enterprises; Nanshan's "Robot Valley" builds an innovation triangle of "universities + research institutes + enterprises," linking Bao'an's precision manufacturing cluster, Nanshan's software algorithm resources, and Qianhai's institutional advantages; Longgang District creates a "Robot Street," integrating a robot theater, testing ground, and industrial park, opening the world's first robot 6S store, pushing domestic robot enterprises from "fighting alone" to "winning together in clusters." The "Shenzhen Embodied Intelligent Robot Technology Innovation and Industrial Development Action Plan (2025-2027)" proposes reaching an associated industry scale of over 100 billion yuan by 2027.
