On May 15th at the ROG DAY 2026 event, ASUS ROG officially launched the new AR glasses, the ROG XREAL R1, developed in collaboration with XREAL. The product is priced at 5,999 yuan, is currently available for pre-order, and is scheduled for in-stock release on June 12th.

Regarding display performance, the ROG XREAL R1 utilizes an FHD Micro OLED display panel. The manufacturer states it can achieve a refresh rate of up to 240Hz with a response time of 0.01ms. It can project a virtual image equivalent to a 171-inch screen at a distance of approximately 4 meters, with a field of view of 57 degrees. It covers 106% of the sRGB color gamut and reaches a peak brightness of 700 nits.

In terms of core hardware, the product is equipped with XREAL's self-developed X1 spatial computing chip and X-Prism optical engine. It supports 3DoF spatial anchoring, offering both anchored and follow display modes. Users can fix a virtual screen at a specific point in space or have it remain in front of their field of view.

The R1 features electrochromic lenses supporting three-stage manual dimming, allowing adjustment of lens transparency based on ambient light. The device also includes a 2D-to-3D real-time conversion function. For audio, it employs a Bose tuning solution.

For connectivity and compatibility, the R1 connects via a USB-C port to devices like the ROG Ally handheld, iPhones, and Android devices. The included ROG Control Dock base is equipped with a DisplayPort 1.4 interface and two HDMI 2.0 ports, enabling connections to PCs, PS5, Xbox, and other console devices, with a button to switch between different signal sources.

In terms of ergonomic design, the entire device weighs 91 grams. It features adjustable nose pads, multi-angle flexible temple arms, and IPD (interpupillary distance) adjustment. Custom prescription lens services are also offered.

From a market positioning perspective, the ROG XREAL R1 represents the first deep collaboration between ROG and XREAL in the AR gaming display field. Its 240Hz refresh rate is considered high for current consumer-grade AR glasses, specifically designed for gaming scenarios demanding smooth visuals. The price point of 5,999 yuan places it in the mid-to-high range within the premium AR glasses market, targeting core gamers seeking a portable, large-screen gaming experience.

Analysis suggests that with the ongoing popularity of handheld and console gaming, AR devices capable of providing a portable, large-screen experience are becoming a distinct niche. However, factors such as wearing comfort, visual fatigue from prolonged use, and the maturity of the content ecosystem remain key challenges affecting market acceptance for such products.

Furthermore, according to the latest near-eye display industry survey from TrendForce, with the deep integration of AI and wearable devices and the push from major manufacturers, TrendForce estimates that global AR glasses shipments will surge to 950,000 units in 2026, representing a year-on-year growth of 53%. By 2030, this figure is projected to climb to approximately 32.11 million units. In a landscape where tech giants like Meta, Samsung, and Google are accelerating their new product launches, demonstrating the R1's long-term use value and unique selling points will be a crucial test for its market performance.
