Ministry Activates Level III Geological Hazard Response for Gansu

On July 7, a landslide occurred in a forest area in Dangchang County, Longnan City, Gansu Province, resulting in multiple people being buried.

In accordance with the "Ministry of Natural Resources Geological Hazard Defense Response Work Plan," the Ministry of Natural Resources initiated a Level III geological hazard defense response at 9:00 AM on July 7. A working group has been dispatched to the site to provide guidance for emergency rescue and relief efforts.

The Ministry has directed the Gansu Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately send an expert team to the scene to assist local authorities with personnel search and rescue, as well as provide technical support during the emergency response. They are also instructed to learn from this incident by enhancing patrols, inspections, monitoring, early warnings, and preventive measures for similar geological hazards.

The Ministry has also requested the China Geological Survey and the Ministry's Geological Hazard Technical Guidance Center to strengthen expert deployment, coordination, consultation, and analysis to fully support and guide the technical assistance efforts.
