Dollar General's stock surged 5.30% in pre-market trading on Tuesday, following the release of its first-quarter financial results and updated guidance.

The discount retailer reported quarterly earnings per share of $2.00, exceeding the FactSet consensus estimate of $1.88. The company also raised its annual profit forecast for fiscal 2026, now expecting earnings per share in the range of $7.20 to $7.45, up from its prior outlook of $7.10 to $7.35.

The positive results and improved guidance are attributed to shoppers increasingly seeking affordable essentials amid ongoing economic uncertainty, which continues to drive traffic and sales for the value-focused retailer.
