On the afternoon of October 10, a man surnamed Zhang from Leshan, Sichuan, reported that he was bitten by a rat in the early hours of the morning while sleeping at the Days Inn by Wyndham hotel in Shizhong District, Leshan. The Shizhong District Health Commission of Leshan responded that it had received the complaint and that law enforcement officers are currently verifying and handling the matter.
According to Zhang, he checked into a superior king room at the hotel in the early hours of September 28. At around 5 a.m., he felt an itch on his hand, and after moving, something bit him. He then saw a rat jump from the bed to a corner on the floor, and his arm was bleeding. Hotel staff subsequently caught a rat in his room and accompanied him to a nearby hospital, but that hospital did not have a tetanus vaccine. That afternoon, Zhang went to another hospital for treatment and received a tetanus shot, with medical and examination fees totaling 205.71 yuan. Afterwards, the two parties failed to reach an agreement through negotiation.
Zhang stated that the hotel asked him to sign an agreement containing a confidentiality clause, which he could not accept. He hopes the hotel will cover the room fee, medical expenses, round-trip transportation costs, and provide appropriate financial compensation. As a result, Sina Finance called the Days Inn by Wyndham hotel in Shizhong District, Leshan, to inquire about the specific situation. A staff member who answered the phone said that a dedicated person is now responsible for this matter and the hotel is already following up on it. The specific details cannot be disclosed, and a results announcement will be released within the next two days.
Previously, a hotel staff member had said that the hotel had completed normal disinfection and that no such incident had ever occurred before. Public information shows that the Days Inn by Wyndham hotel in Shizhong District, Leshan, belongs to Wyndham Hotels Group and is an upscale hotel. According to the hotel group's official website, Wyndham has 25 brands across 95 countries and regions, with more than 9,100 hotels. Regarding this matter, Wyndham customer service staff also said that the matter is still being followed up and no further response can be given.
