Expert Foundry Analysis: Tackling High Rejection Rates, Low Efficiency, and High-End Production Challenges

Deep News
Jul 22

Innovation in cast iron technology and defect prevention is advancing into a new era characterized by high strength and toughness, low carbon emissions, and intelligent manufacturing.

The global foundry industry is undergoing a profound transformation. As performance demands for materials used in high-end equipment surge and the "dual-carbon" goals impose strict constraints, high-performance cast iron technology has become a core engine driving manufacturing upgrades.

According to the latest industry data, the annual compound growth rate for austempered ductile iron (ADI) is projected to reach 8% by 2025. Its disruptive advantages, including a 60% increase in strength compared to traditional materials and a reduction in energy consumption by over 3.5 times, are accelerating the market expansion of high-performance cast iron components.

Simultaneously, foundries in our country still face severe challenges, including high rejection rates, energy efficiency bottlenecks, and a lag in the domestic production of high-end products.

To enhance the quality control of key technologies in cast iron production for industry professionals, facilitate mastery of related core technologies, reduce rejection rates, and improve casting quality, a focused session on current key production technologies and defect case analysis will be held.

Bai Zhu Wang has invited several experts for a live presentation and analysis on the production technology of high-performance ductile iron. The experts include Dr. Xie Mingguo, a Professor-level Senior Engineer; Mr. Wu Binghuan, a Research Institute-level Senior Engineer; Mr. Wu Baocheng, a Senior Engineer; and Mr. Zhang Baitang, a Senior and Quality Engineer. Your participation in this conference is sincerely invited.

Conference Schedule

Training Dates: July 27 to July 29, 2026, with full-day registration on July 27.

Venue

The conference will be held at the Shuyi International Hotel in Hefei, Anhui province.

Target Audience

The event is designed for general managers, quality supervisors, production plant managers, technical personnel, and inspection staff.

Featured Expert Speakers

Dr. Xie Mingguo, a Professor-level Senior Engineer, previously served as Chief Economist at Anhui Heli Co., Ltd. and as Factory Director of its Hefei Casting & Forging Plant. He has led and participated in several major national science and technology projects, winning three provincial-level science and technology progress awards (second prize or higher). He holds four first-author invention patents and has published over ten papers.

Mr. Wu Binghuan, a Research Institute-level Senior Engineer, formerly held positions as Chief Engineer at Dongfeng Motor Corporation's No.1 Foundry and Deputy Director of its No.2 Foundry. He holds numerous committee memberships and advisory roles in national and regional foundry associations and academic societies, and serves on the editorial boards of several leading industry journals.

Mr. Wu Baocheng, a Senior Engineer, is the Chief Casting Technology Expert for the Components Division at Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. and a committee member of the National Foundry Standardization Technical Committee's Cast Iron Branch.

Mr. Zhang Baitang, a Senior Engineer and Quality Engineer, has 30 years of experience in the foundry industry. Since graduating in 1993, he has held various roles including process technician, technical supervisor, quality control department head, workshop foreman, and branch factory manager. He has published over 20 papers in specialized foundry journals. He is proficient in numerous molding lines and has extensive practical experience with various casting processes, offering unique insights into melting and material formulation.

Key Reasons to Attend

Many foundries struggle to meet quality requirements when producing high-performance cast iron components.

The course provides case analysis on as-cast high-strength, high-elongation ductile iron.

It offers theoretical and practical analysis and sharing on achieving dual-high (strength & elongation) ductile iron.

Attendees may bring problematic castings for on-site expert analysis and solutions.

A visit to the Anhui Heli Co., Ltd. Hefei Casting & Forging Plant is included.

All participants will receive a certificate of completion from Bai Zhu Education.

Course Outline

Part 1: Key Technologies for High-End Cast Iron Components and Typical Defect Solutions. Topics include the meaning of quality, quality requirements for high-end complex castings, key technologies involved, and analysis of typical defects with solutions.

Part 2: Specialized Training on Cast Iron Melting/Pouring Processes, Material Charging, Quality, and Cost Control. This section covers the foundational impact of melting and pouring on quality, responsibilities and quality boundaries, identification and rectification of typical defects, standardized control of melting and pouring processes, practical material charging operations, and cost management related to material acceptance and yield.

Part 3: Key Control Points in High-End Ductile Iron Production. This includes control points for molten iron chemistry, nodularizing treatment, inoculation treatment, gating system design, utilization of mold characteristics, and inspection sampling.

Part 4: Production Technology and Product Development Case Analysis for As-Cast High-Strength, High-Ductility Ductile Iron. This part explores the technical approach for developing such materials, including definitions, technical routes, and key points. It also presents product development case studies.
