Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that its Galaxy Z foldable smartphones have set a new pre-order record in South Korea. The company reported that the latest generation of foldable phone models, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, received a total of 1.44 million product orders.
These devices feature Alphabet's Gemini artificial intelligence model, designed to cater to diverse user lifestyles while delivering a more personalized AI experience. The total pre-orders for this series surpassed the previous record set by the Galaxy Note 10 in 2019, which had 1.38 million orders at the time.
The initial pre-order period for the Galaxy Z series ran from last Wednesday through Monday. Samsung attributes the strong sales of the series to its mature and advanced foldable screen technology, the growing consumer preference for new form-factor devices, and the various purchase benefits offered during the pre-order phase.
The new foldable models from Samsung will begin rolling out in approximately 100 countries starting Friday.
