Builders FirstSource (BLDR) shares tumbled 5.55% in pre-market trading after the company reported second-quarter results that fell short of Wall Street expectations and issued a full-year outlook that added to concerns.
The building materials supplier posted a net loss of $3.9 million, or a loss of $0.04 per share. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.17, missing the consensus estimate of $1.27. Sales of $3.90 billion also missed the $3.922 billion estimate. The company's guidance for fiscal 2026 included adjusted EBITDA of $1.0-$1.2 billion and a margin of 7.1%-8.1%, along with free cash flow of $400-$500 million, which may have underwhelmed investors against a backdrop of slowing housing demand.
The pre-market slide reflects disappointment over both the earnings miss and the cautious forward-looking metrics, as traders recalibrated their expectations for the company's near-term performance.
