National Day Holiday Sees Strong Demand for Service Consumption, Tourism Market Continues to Heat Up

During the National Day holiday, the tourism consumption market continued to heat up, with sales revenue from tourism sightseeing and entertainment services increasing by 23.6% year-on-year, among which travel agency services and amusement parks grew by 26.2% and 41.2% respectively.

According to CCTV News, the State Taxation Administration used value-added tax invoice data to analyze the sales revenue of relevant consumption industries during the National Day holiday, showing that during the National Day holiday, nationwide demand for service consumption was strong, commodity consumption showed good growth momentum, and sales of home appliances, digital electronics, kitchen and bathroom products saw relatively high increases.

Data shows that during the National Day holiday, the tourism consumption market continued to heat up, with sales revenue from tourism sightseeing and entertainment services increasing by 23.6% year-on-year, among which travel agency services and amusement parks grew by 26.2% and 41.2% respectively.

Driven by tourism consumption, diversified accommodation demand was released, with economy chain hotels and homestay services growing by 6.3% and 12.8% respectively year-on-year.

At the same time, family gatherings, wedding banquets and other activities drove strong catering consumption, with catering service sales revenue increasing by 9% year-on-year. Among them, specialty food streets and night market economies flourished, promoting snack service growth of 15.5% year-on-year; fast food service grew by 30.6% year-on-year, providing convenience for consumers dining out; the rapid development of new-style tea drinks drove beverage and cold drink service growth of more than 2 times year-on-year.

In addition, the culture, sports and entertainment sectors continuously enriched new business formats and diversified supply of new scenarios, driving cultural and artistic service sales revenue up 20.9% year-on-year, among which literary and artistic creation and performance services, and mass cultural and sports activities grew by 21% and 28.3% respectively. Sports events drove sports service sales revenue up 29.4% year-on-year.

Affected by factors such as part of the consumer goods trade-in subsidy funds being put in place before the holiday, concentrated launches of new digital products, and the concentrated release of rigid demand for home upgrades during the long holiday, sales revenue from home appliances and audio-visual equipment increased by 40.1% year-on-year, among which retail of daily home appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines grew by 40.6% year-on-year, and retail of home audio-visual equipment such as televisions grew by 36.6% year-on-year. Sales revenue from communication equipment such as mobile phones and smart bands increased by 119.8% year-on-year. Retail of kitchen utensils and sanitary ware grew by 52.3% year-on-year.

Furthermore, self-pleasing consumption became a new growth pole, with consumption vitality in pet services, fitness and body shaping, and beauty and hairdressing stimulated, driving sales revenue from residential pet services, fitness and leisure activities, and hairdressing and beauty services up 80.8%, 16.7% and 37.1% respectively year-on-year.
