There has been a new executive appointment within the financial division of China Merchants Group.
On July 2nd, China Merchants Asset Management, the asset management subsidiary of China Merchants Securities, announced a change in its senior leadership. Tang Shuangding has been appointed as a Director and General Manager of the company, effective this month.
Public information indicates that Tang Shuangding holds a master's degree in finance from Renmin University of China. He began his career in investment banking at a securities firm before joining the head office of China Merchants Bank (CM BANK). In April 2024, he received regulatory approval to serve as Vice President of CMB Wealth Management.
It is understood that the former General Manager of China Merchants Asset Management, Yi Weidong, is likely to return to China Merchants Securities to assume a leadership role within the institutional department.
As two major financial institutions under the state-owned China Merchants Group, there is frequent executive exchange between China Merchants Bank and China Merchants Securities. The current Chairman of China Merchants Securities, Zhu Jiangtao, previously served as a Vice President of China Merchants Bank. He was transferred to the role of President at the securities firm in early June last year and became its Chairman this past May. The outgoing Chairman of China Merchants Securities, Huo Da, was reassigned as General Manager of China Merchants Financial Holdings and was elected as a Non-Executive Director of China Merchants Bank. The current Vice President of China Merchants Securities, Liu Bo, also had a long tenure at China Merchants Bank. Furthermore, the position of President at China Merchants Securities remains vacant.
China Merchants Asset Management is a securities asset management company with a public fund license. According to the annual report of China Merchants Securities, in 2025, China Merchants Asset Management launched seven non-money market public fund products, including two bond funds and five equity funds. The company focused on building customized services for private placement products, further diversifying its offerings by increasing the issuance of FOF products and specialized equity products, which led to a significant growth in FOF issuance scale.
As of the end of December 2025, the total assets under management for China Merchants Asset Management stood at 261.05 billion yuan, with public fund management scale accounting for 70.401 billion yuan. In 2025, benefiting from growth in public fund management business revenue, the company's net income reached 821 million yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 12.77%.
