On the 22nd local time, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid stated that Iraqi authorities had previously engaged in communication with visiting Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, conveying messages regarding a reassessment of bilateral ties between the two nations. Rashid also confirmed that certain vessels carrying Iraqi oil have been authorized to transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
Rashid emphasized that the Iraqi government must engage in dialogue with militia groups, fostering mutual understanding and resolving the issue of weapons control through solutions aligned with Iraq's national interests and the welfare of its people. He further noted that Iran has not requested Iraq to postpone its national weapons management process.
Additionally, Rashid underscored the importance of maintaining open channels with regional stakeholders to ensure stability in energy exports, given the strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz to global oil supplies. The president reiterated Iraq's commitment to upholding its sovereignty while pursuing constructive diplomatic engagements in the region.
