Sa Sa International released its FY 2025/26 Environmental, Social and Governance Report covering Hong Kong and Macao operations that generate about 80% of group turnover (reporting period: 1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026).
Environmental Performance • Combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse-gas emissions fell to 5,226 tCO₂e, while emissions intensity dropped 22.80% year-on-year to 1.50 tCO₂e per HK$1 million turnover. The group has now achieved a 70% reduction against the 2014/15 baseline. • Total energy use was broadly stable at 11,942 MWh, yet energy intensity improved to 3.4 MWh per HK$1 million turnover. • Water-use intensity fell 12.54% to 3.42 m³ per HK$1 million turnover after roll-out of flow controllers and nano-filtration dispensers. • Waste sent to landfill declined 39.4% to 15,218 kg, contributing to an 89% diversion rate. • Packaging intensity edged up 2% to 83 kg per HK$1 million turnover owing to a shift from B2B to B2C fulfilment; the retailer joined the HKSAR “Packaging Reduction Charter” and expanded reuse programmes for crates and protective fabric covers.
People and Workplace • Headcount stood at 1,507, with females representing 80%. Women hold 56% of board seats and 60% of management roles. • Average training reached 189.6 hours per employee, a 5% increase, supported by 301 e-learning modules and 149 offline sessions. • The period recorded zero fatalities, 13 reportable injuries and 130 lost workdays. • No breaches of labour, anti-discrimination or occupational-safety regulations were reported.
Customers and Supply Chain • Product portfolio included 220 eco-friendly brands; 31 newly launched exclusive items are vegan and 25 are cruelty-free. • Store-level customer complaints totalled 135 cases amid higher footfall; no product recalls occurred. • Supplier base numbered 507, led by Hong Kong (51.5%) and wider Asia (30.6%). Screening emphasised legal compliance, ingredient safety and ESG credentials.
Community Investment • Since inception of the Sa Sa Making Life Beautiful Charity Fund in 2013, cumulative community contributions reached HK$39.40 million. During the year, relief initiatives for the Tai Po fire provided HK$2.50 million in cash and HK$2.50 million in goods. The group supported 101 charity events and continued outsourcing packaging work to NGOs employing disadvantaged groups.
Governance and Recognition • ESG oversight rests with the board, supported by a Sustainability Steering Committee; two of five board meetings in the year focused on sustainability issues. • The company secured multiple honours, including TVB’s “ESG Special Recognition Award – with Merit”, HKICPA’s “Best Corporate Governance and ESG Awards” and an Energywi$e “Good Level” certificate for its Kwai Chung logistics centre.
