ELL Environmental Holdings Limited (ELL ENV) has agreed to purchase 1,600 VolcMiner D1 Scrypt-based ASIC machines for US$3.51 million, equating to US$2,195 per unit. The price was determined through arm’s-length negotiations and benchmarked against comparable Scrypt ASIC equipment from suppliers such as Bitmain and Elphapex.
Each VolcMiner D1 delivers a rated hashrate of 16 GH/s and consumes approximately 3,725 watts, translating to an energy efficiency of about 229 J/G. On a combined basis, the fleet will add roughly 25,600 GH/s of computing capacity to the Group’s operations.
The hardware will be installed in the Group’s data centre in Jambi, Indonesia, where it will be integrated with existing biomass power generation facilities. Rather than undertaking proprietary cryptocurrency mining, ELL ENV plans to deploy the machines to provide hosting, managed data-processing and related technical support services to external customers, utilising idle power capacity.
Management views the transaction as a strategic extension of its energy and IT services businesses. By pairing in-house power generation with high-density computing hardware, the Group aims to:
• improve utilisation of existing biomass power-generation assets; • expand high-performance computing and digital infrastructure services; and • generate additional revenue streams from managed data-processing, equipment hosting and related technology services.
The Board considers the US$3.51 million consideration fair and reasonable, citing prevailing market prices, technical specifications and favourable payment terms negotiated with the seller.
