GMR Solutions, the largest emergency medical services provider in the United States, has announced the appointment of Dr. Amar Desai and Ellen Zane to its board of directors, effective July 1, 2026.
Dr. Desai is a seasoned healthcare executive, having previously served as President of Optum Integrated Care and CEO of Optum Health at UnitedHealth Group, overseeing care for more than 20 million patients. His career includes senior roles at organizations such as CVS Health, DaVita, USC Care, and McKinsey, with extensive experience in value-based care and healthcare delivery transformation. Dr. Desai will serve on the board's Nominating, Corporate Governance, and Compliance Committee.
Zane currently serves as CEO Emeritus of Tufts Medical Center and Founding Chair of Tufts Medicine, bringing over four decades of leadership experience in healthcare institutions. She also holds board positions at several public companies, including Boston Scientific, Haemonetics, and Synchrony Financial, and serves as an adjunct assistant professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Zane will chair the board's Human Capital and Compensation Committee.
These appointments mark the formal completion of the GMR Solutions board. Existing members include former Optum CFO Timothy Wicks, former Walgreens Boots Alliance Senior Vice President Jan Stern Reed, and Johnny Kim and Max Lin from KKR's healthcare investment team.
