Taylor Morrison Home's stock surged 23.08% during pre-market trading on Monday, following the announcement of a definitive acquisition agreement by Berkshire Hathaway.
The dramatic move was triggered by Berkshire Hathaway's agreement to acquire the homebuilder for $72.50 per share in an all-cash transaction. This offer represents a premium of approximately 24% over the company's closing price prior to the announcement, valuing the total enterprise at about $8.5 billion.
This acquisition marks the first major deal under Berkshire's new CEO, Greg Abel, and signals a significant expansion of the conglomerate's housing business. Upon completion, which is expected in the second half of 2026, Taylor Morrison will become a privately held company and its shares will be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.
