Two slope collapses occurred in Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province on August 23, leaving four people missing. In response, the Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geological disaster defense response for Yunnan at 2:00 PM that day and dispatched a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.
The ministry has instructed the Yunnan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately dispatch an expert working group to the scene to assist local authorities in technical support during search and rescue operations. It also urged the department to draw lessons from the incident and strengthen geological hazard inspections, monitoring, early warning, and prevention measures under similar conditions.
The China Geological Survey and the ministry's technical guidance center for geological disasters have been tasked with enhancing expert coordination, organizational efforts, and consultation and analysis to provide full technical support for the response.
