Anax Metals Ltd's stock plummeted 5.41% during intraday trading on Wednesday after the company announced a capital raising through a share placement.
The mineral exploration company received firm commitments to raise approximately A$6 million by issuing 176.4 million new shares at A$0.034 per share. Proceeds from the placement are earmarked for a high-impact exploration drilling program targeting near-mine and extensional opportunities at the company's Whim Creek project in Western Australia.
Such equity placements typically dilute existing shareholders' stakes and can exert downward pressure on stock prices, especially when the issue price represents a discount to the prevailing market price.
