Airbnb, Inc. shares surged 8.94% in after-hours trading on Thursday following the company's second-quarter earnings release, which exceeded analyst expectations on both revenue and earnings per share.

The vacation rental giant reported Q2 revenue of $3.61 billion, up 17% year-over-year and above the consensus estimate of $3.58 billion. Earnings per share came in at $1.37, beating the $1.25 estimate. Gross booking value grew 16% to $27.2 billion, while Nights and Seats Booked increased 10% to 148.3 million, accelerating from the first quarter. The company cited strong global travel demand and a boost from the FIFA World Cup as key drivers of the performance.

Airbnb also raised its full-year outlook, now expecting revenue growth of "at least mid teens" compared to the prior "low to mid teens" forecast, and an adjusted EBITDA margin of at least 35.5%. For the third quarter, the company guided revenue of $4.69 billion to $4.77 billion, well above the $4.61 billion analyst consensus, further fueling investor optimism.
